iPhone Not Charging in Canggu? 7 Things to Check Before Repair

iPhone not charging in Canggu? Learn what to check first, from cables and dirty charging ports to battery and hardware problems, and when your iPhone may need professional repair.

Your iPhone is plugged in, but nothing happens. Maybe it only charges when you hold the cable at a certain angle. Maybe charging keeps connecting and disconnecting. Or perhaps the battery percentage simply refuses to move.

If you're in Canggu or elsewhere in Bali, don't assume immediately that you need a new charging port. Several different problems can cause an iPhone to stop charging, and some are surprisingly simple.

1. Try a Different Cable and Charger

Start with the easiest possibility. A damaged cable, adapter, or power source can look exactly like an iPhone charging problem.

Try another compatible cable and charger that you know works properly. If your iPhone starts charging normally, the phone itself may be fine.

2. Check the Charging Port for Dust and Lint

Charging ports collect more debris than most people realise. Pocket lint, dust and fine particles can build up inside the port and prevent the connector from sitting properly.

A common clue is a cable that feels loose or only works when positioned at a certain angle.

Avoid forcing metal objects into the charging port. The contacts inside are small and can be damaged easily.

3. Restart the iPhone

Not every charging problem is hardware-related. Occasionally, iOS or another temporary software issue can interfere with normal charging behaviour.

Restart the iPhone and reconnect the charger. If charging returns to normal, monitor the device before assuming a component needs replacement.

4. Pay Attention to Heat

Bali is hot, and phones can get even hotter inside a car, on a scooter mount, at the beach or while using navigation outdoors.

An iPhone that becomes too warm may temporarily limit or pause charging to protect the battery and internal components.

Move the phone somewhere cooler, remove unnecessary accessories and allow it to return to a normal temperature before trying again.

5. Check Whether the Battery Is the Real Problem

A charging issue does not always mean the charging port is faulty.

If your iPhone charges but the battery percentage drops unusually fast, shuts down unexpectedly, or struggles to hold power, the battery itself may need attention.

Proper diagnosis matters because replacing a charging port will not solve a worn or failing battery.

6. Think About Recent Water Exposure

Rain, pool water, humidity and beach trips are part of life in Bali. Unfortunately, moisture and electronics are not great friends.

If the charging problem started after the iPhone became wet, avoid repeatedly plugging it into power. Moisture or corrosion around the connector can turn a simple problem into a more complicated repair.

Saltwater exposure deserves particularly quick attention.

7. Know When It Is Time for a Professional Diagnosis

If you have tested another charger, restarted the phone and checked for obvious debris but the problem continues, the fault may be inside the device.

Possible causes include the charging connector, battery, internal flex cables or other hardware. The symptoms can overlap, which is why diagnosis should come before replacing parts.

Common Signs Your iPhone Needs Charging Repair

  • The iPhone does not charge with multiple known-working cables.
  • The cable feels unusually loose in the port.
  • Charging repeatedly connects and disconnects.
  • The phone only charges when the cable is held at an angle.
  • The iPhone became difficult to charge after water exposure.
  • The device charges extremely slowly despite using a suitable charger.
  • The phone shows charging behaviour but the battery percentage does not increase normally.

Before You Replace the Charging Port

The important thing is not to guess.

Start with the simple checks. If the problem remains, get the iPhone properly diagnosed before replacing anything.
